Don Fioravante Sottano settled in Mendoza in 1890 and became a pioneer in Mendocinan Industry, promoting the agriculture and the industry in the region, planting vineyards to produce wine in his own winery and, later on, exporting it. His son Miguel Sottano, continued and grew the family business. Today, encouraged by the passion that Ricardo Sottano passed on, his sons Diego, Pablo and Mauricio Sottano continue the rich tradition and are building Bodega Sottano into an important part of the Argentinean wine scene.
'Bodega Sottano’s first harvest was in 2004 and their new winery was completed in 2005. The above value-priced wines are very good and their more upscale offerings are outstanding so this winery appears to have made a strong start.' ERobertParker.com August 2009
Stocky, smoky and well composed on the nose, with aromas of blackberry and hickory leading the charge. Shows pulse and concentration on the palate as toasty oak, chocolate and chewiness blend nicely with black fruit and cassis flavors. Firm, deep and tannic on the finish.

From the Wine Enthusiast:
Dark, dense and minty on the bouquet, which is sexy and magnetic. Saturated and jammy but still maintaining balance, and then a superconcentrated set of jammy blackberry flavors runs side by side with toasty oak and chocolate. Almost dessert-like on the finish. A very rich and modern style of Malbec.

The Reserva de la Familia Cabernet Sauvignon has a well-defined bouquet that is almost Bordeaux-like, armed with blackberry, cedar and graphite aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins and a rigid backbone that informs its Medoc-like (think Pessac-Leognan), reserved finish, which is focused and satisfying. This is well-crafted and should reward several years in bottle. Drink now-2020. (From Robert Parker's Wine Advocate)

The 2010 Reserva de Familia Malbec is pure Malbec from Perdriel, a small area in Lujan de Cuyo, with classic aromas of violets and red and blue fruit with a strong aromatic influence from the aging in barrel. The palate is juicy with supple tannins and very good acidity, and the wood feels better integrated than in the nose. A modern, well-crafted Malbec. (From Robert Parker's Wine Advocate)
